As a mentor, volunteers will gain experience working with middle school and  elementary school students, and develop meaningful relationships with youth.

Duties:
Provide academic support for 1 student, possible up to 2 students.
Assist students in grade improvement (Math/English).
Build relationship with a student, and be a consistent presence in youth’s life.
As a ‘Success Coach’ - to motivate and praise a student’s progress.
Help through good and bad times, form team support with parent and teacher.

Qualifications:
Volunteer mentor must enjoy working with middle school students
be dependable, have own transportation, and have a desire to work with a diversity of student needs
Required to pass State of Michigan background checks
